Pastor calls for Christians to boycott Starbucks..

Evangelical Pastor, Steven Andrews, president of the USA Christian Ministries in California is asking customers to boycott Starbucks due to the company’s support of a bill to legalize gay marriage in Washington state.

Last week, four Republicans joined 24 Democrats in ensuring a 28-21 victory in a vote that paves the wave for Washington to become the seventh state to recognize same-sex matrimony.

The legislation will legalize gay marriage with exemptions for religious organizations opposed to conducting same-sex weddings or allowing same-sex couples to use their facilities for nuptials.

“Starbucks can follow Satan if they want to. However, pastors are to help Christians. Are you on the Lord’s side? Will you help the USA be blessed by God?” said Andrews, in a written statement.

In addition to Andrews, The National Organization for Marriage, which opposes same sex marriage, has pledged to provide financial backing for conservative challengers to the four Republican senators who supported the bill.

Starbucks, which is based in Seattle, joined more than 100 other companies, including Microsoft, Nike and Google in backing the same-sex marriage bill.

According to Reuters, when asked about the controversy over their decision, Starbucks held firm in it’s longstanding support for equality of gays and lesbians stating, “Starbucks is proud to join other leading Northwest employers in support of Washington state legislation recognizing marriage equality for same-sex couples.”

The bill is expected to pass in the state house of representatives this week.
