A suspect is in FBI custody this morning after allegedly shooting a security guard at the Family Research Council headquarters. Family Research Council is a Christian organization based in downtown.
The shooting occurred at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday in the lobby of 801 G Street NW. The security guard is being hailed as a hero after he stopped a gunman posing as an intern, taking a bullet in the arm before wrestling the suspect to the ground.
“The security guard here is a hero, as far as I’m concerned,” D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said. ”He did his job. The person never made it past the front.”
According to Fox News, the suspect “made statements regarding their policies, and then opened fire with a gun striking a security guard”.
“The police are investigating this incident,” Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said. “Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family.”
The FBI has yet to release information on the suspect’s identity or motive.

Gospel singer and prophetess Juanita Bynum recently appeared on Atlanta radio station V-103 and revealed some of the things she has been through in her life. She also spoke of affairs she said she had with women.
“I’ve done it all. I did the drugs. I’ve been with men. I’ve been with women. It’s not a line. It’s my life,” Bynum said. “I took full responsibility in every area because every choice that I made, nobody put a gun to my head. These were my choices and I made these choices due to a lack of wisdom.”
“I’m not embarrassed about my conversions, and that’s why I’m not insecure about being around people who have issues and struggles,” she added.
She grew up in Chicago as one of five children. After being brought to the center stage by Bishop T.D. Jakes, in the late 1990’s, she quickly gained notoriety in the gospel community. She was first married in the 1980s and then again in 2002. Both marriages ended in divorce.
She credits having “purpose and destiny” for filling a longtime void from other negative periods of her life.
“That abuse that I suffered was because I attracted after my own kind. That abuse was always sitting in me,” she said on V-103. “I had already abused myself mentally and emotionally for years trying to fill a void that only the power of purpose can fill.”
“When purpose has a place to fill that hole, you can have sex with 50,000 people, you can do drugs til the cows come home. But the void that you’re trying to fill is a void that’s been put there by the Creator, and it’s called purpose and destiny. And until you accept that, you’re going to walk around with the living dead,” she said.
Congratulations to Serena Williams, who won her fifth Wimbledon title after beating Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 earlier today.
“I can’t even describe it,” an emotional Williams, who had serious health issues after cutting her foot and was out for a year since winning her fourth title in 2010, said in an on-court interview after collecting the trophy her older sister Venus has also snabbed five times.
“I almost didn’t make it a few years ago. I was in a hospital but now I’m here again and it was so worth it. I’m so happy.
”Just never give up, you can continue. Thank you, guys in the box today, daddy, mum — I can’t name everyone one but thank you from the bottom of my heart.“
