Recap: Episode 10 of BET’s Sunday’s Best Season 3

Sunday's Best Season 3

Okay tonight the show was divided into two halves..so double the fun!! For the first half the special guest was Israel Houghton. He sung, “Moving Forward”. I love that song. He did an awesome job. If you don’t already have the album you simply can’t delay in getting it today. It is featured on his latest solo project, entitled “The Power of One” .

The Power Of One

Durward Davis, was up first singing Eric Clapton’s, “Change the World”. He took that song to another level .

LeeAnndria Johnson, singing “Heaven Help Us All”, she did a good job. I wasn’t particularly overwhelmed but she did a good job nonetheless.

Elder Goldwire McLendon was up next. Singing, “Falling in Love With Jesus”. He really delivered. I can’t say too much more. His voice is amazing, his wisdom is empowering, and his endurance is strengthening to all. God bless him!!

Okay, time for the second half. It starts of with special guest, Brian Courtney Wilson, singing one of my favorites, “All I Need”. I was blessed to see him perform live a few months ago and I encourage all to check him out if you ever have a chance.

Durward Davis back up for the second time singing, “I Need You Now”. All the judges felt that he took them on a journey throughout the song. Tina said, “You are just so polished..your presence is so amazing..you are a skilled professional”. Durward always do a good job but his story isn’t as good as LeeAndria and Elder McLendon so I am not sure where that leaves him. Well I guess we will know by the end of the night!!

LeeAndria Johnson, singing “I love the lord he heard my cry..” She sung that song. That girl can sing. Her voice is such a powerhouse. She started shouting at the end and gave a praise that you wouldn’t believe!! Get it LeeAndria!! The judges loved her and so did I. Yolanda said, “You have not seen what God is going to do to you.” Donnie is a preaching brother. God truly speaks to him and I am grateful for it.

Elder Goldwire McLendon, sung “Ole Happy Day”. Tina, “You are just good, good, good…I just love you!”. Yolanda, “..You make us want to keep living for God..”. Donnie McClurkin said, “No matter what happen, you are Sunday’s Best”.

Now, only two can advance to the next round. This was a really hard decision.

And the two finalist are….Elder Goldwire McLendon and LeeAndria Johnson. So it is up to us next week. We have to vote so stay tuned!!!

Part 2:

Radio One’s 8th Annual WYCB Prayer Breakfast

Radio One, held their 8th Annual WYCB Prayer Breakfast this past Saturday for the DMV area at Martin’s Crosswinds in Greenbelt, Maryland. The sold out event was hosted by WYCB Radio’s Winston Chaney, who you may remember seeing pics last week I posted from the Yolanda Adams Health and Wellness Tour. Needless to say, they are keeping a brother busy!! Anyway, he was joined by radio personalities, Cheryl Jackson, Angel Carpenter, and Stellar Award Winner for Radio Host of the Year, Lonnie Hunter. But wait that is not all..

The keynote speaker was none other than, the awesome, Bishop Elect Lyle Dukes of Harvest Life Changers Church. Dr. Charlene Monk of New Horizon Christian Faith Church blessed the pastors with a special prayer, Pastor Larry Jordan of Maple Springs Baptist Church gave an awesome breakfast blessing, and the wonderful Vickie Winans performed two selections, including her upcoming new single release “Release it” (which she will be shooting a video for real soon so make sure you check it out).

Vickie Winans acknowledged to us that she and her family are currently in the midst of a storm, so please lift this anointed woman of God up in your prayers. But despite what she was going through at the time, she gave a stellar performance and was absolutely hilarious!! She literally had the audience in tears from laughter!! Definitely a GospelMagnet favorite!! Also, Marcus D. Wiley from the Yolanda Adams Morning Show was in attendance. Check out a list of pastors that were honored and some pictures from the event below.

Up and Coming: Pastor Louis A. Smith, Sr.

Pastor Louis A. Smith

Pastor Louis Smith, Sr.

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of Faith, Hope & Love Church. And it was an awesome service!

Pastor Louis A. Smith, Sr., is the lead minister at Faith, Hope and Love Church in Landover, MD. Pastor Smith and first lady Sheila, have been married for over 24 years and are the proud parents of four children. They are partners in every sense of the word. They have been saved for 20 years and counting! (God is good!) Both dedicate their lives to bettering others, albeit, through teaching marriage classes, community outreach, or just being there to talk to a person in need. They strongly believe that although they may not be able to save the world, just by saving one person at a time, you can truly make a difference. They decided to give their church the name, Faith, Hope and Love Church because they believe that without faith it is impossible to please God.

Pastor Smith’s first service was filled with personal stories about his journey to Christ, his hopes and vision for the future of the Church and an awesome sermon of how to keep going even when you get to the point where you feel like saying, “I can’t take it anymore”.

GospelMagnet wants to congratulate Pastor Louis A. Smith, Sr. and First Lady Sheila Smith on the opening of the Faith, Hope & Love Church!! We wish them well!

God can’t dwell in an unclean temple..So now it is up to you..but for me I want the fullness of God dwelling in me”-Pastor Louis A. Smith [Faith, Hope & Love Church 3/7/10]
