Fantasia wows the audience, in performance at the 2012 Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration

Fantasia Barrino, Wess Morgan
Hosted by Reverend Run, along with the fabulous CeCe Winans, the 13th Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration took place last night before a sold out crowd at Clowes Memorial Hall in Indianapolis.

Last night, performers included Fantasia Barrino, Hezekiah Walker, Wess Morgan (Players Choice) Natalie Grant and the NFL Gospel Choir.

Famous NFL players including Ray Lewis, Jerry Rice, Darrell Green, Donavan McNabb, Malcolm Jenkins and Deon Sanders, under the direction of gospel great, Donnie McClurkin, performed as part of the NFL Gospel Choir, including a special performance with Fantasia.

This was Fantasia’s first big performance since giving birth to her baby boy this past December and she did not miss a beat!!! Fantasia also performed a duo with her mother Diane Barrino.

The entire show was televised, so be sure to check your local listings for upcoming show times! You will not be disappointed!

Fantasia releases statement about recent missed performances

In a statement recently released, Fantasia said that she was “overjoyed to get the OK from my doctor and new vocal coach to come back and perform. My fans and this show are very important to me.”

The star thanked her “fans, supporters and friends for their thoughts and prayers during this very challenging time.” As GospelMagnet previously reported, Fantasia had to cancel this past weekend appearances due to inflammation of the vocal cords. To make up for the lost time she announced that she’s adding two additional Sunday matinee performances (Feb. 21 and 28), which were previously scheduled as days off. Tickets for the show can be purchased at or the Pantages Theatre box office.

Fantasia cancels Color Purple Performances

Fantasia, Oprah Winfrey

Singer Fantasia is taking some flack from critics for canceling her performances at this weekend’s Los Angeles run of “The Color Purple”. We have yet to hear from Fantasia’s camp about the recent cancellations. However, Fantasia, who recently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, publicly acknowledged her regret for missing performances last year and discussed how it affected those who had bought tickets to see her.

Reports are surfacing that her boyfriend, Antwaun Cook, whom is currently married, flew into town the same night she called in sick to spend Valentine’s Day with her. We hope and pray that all is well with Fantasia.
