Montell Jordan
Even if you didn’t pay too much attention to music in the mid-90s, if you have been watching TV lately and came across the 2012 Jackson Hewitt commercials (which is quite funny, see below), then you have been introduced to the vocals of Montell Jordan, though his famous 1995 single “This is How We Do It”.

In late 2010, Jordan announced that he was officially leaving his music career behind to become a Worship Minister at Victory World Church.

On January 1, 2011 he became a licensed minister. Jordan can now be seen at Victory World Church in Atlanta, GA, where he lives and performs with the church band.

Check out a few excerpts from the interview below:

On talks of him coming out with his own syndicated radio show

I love radio. When I was in the world, I was a radio driven artist. To come up here to Magic 102.1, and just the opportunity to let folks hear. You know…people will follow you the question is where you lead them. Now just to have a voice and be able to speak into people lives, it is a great opportunity.

On CD “Shake Heaven”

It is contemporary Christians, gospel. It can’t really be contained in a word because music is so eclectic for me. And what God was doing is trying to do something new. And so I think that what you hear when you listen to the album is you are hearing a new sound that God is birthing right now.
